Hanging Disc Sculptures
Throughout her career, Persis has been fascinated by the beauty and artistic potential of the disc in stoneware form. Her discs adorn home and gardens throughout the West Coast.
Each disc is a work of art, balanced, dynamic and painterly in interpretation. Some feature "clay appliqué," some impressed textures, some are bold costructions with multiple weavings of color and texture. The surfaces are a combination of stains and glazes. Double discs are both symetric and 3-dimensional.
Their earthly tonality comes from stains and englobes used to color the clay before the final high-firing. The resulting patinas are both colorful and natural. These sculptures make excellent accents to garden and interior designs.  |
